Activities

Ocean Safari
A boat trip off Ponta Malongane is not a conventional sightseeing tour. You head out into a habitat where nothing needs to be staged.
Diving

The coast between Ponta Malongane and Ponta do Ouro is one of southern Mozambique’s most rewarding diving areas. Warm water, coral reefs and remarkably diverse marine life make it equally appealing to experienced divers and guests taking their first dives.

Snorkelling

Not every adventure needs a scuba tank. Snorkelling also opens up the underwater world of southern Mozambique, depending on conditions along sheltered stretches of coast or on guided trips.

Paragliding

Sky Island Resort in Ponta Malongane is one of southern Mozambique’s known paragliding spots. From the high coastal dune, views open across the Indian Ocean, the long beach and the green coastal landscape.

Turtles

The protected coastline of southern Mozambique is an important nesting area for sea turtles. During the warmer months, females come ashore at night to lay their eggs in the sand. Weeks later, the hatchlings begin their short and perilous journey to the sea.

Fishing

Off Ponta do Ouro and Ponta Malongane, the Indian Ocean quickly drops into deeper water. This is where deep-sea fishing begins. Depending on the season, catches may include tuna, wahoo, dorado, sailfish and marlin.

Water Sports

Depending on the wind, waves and local availability, the coast offers plenty of ways to spend active hours on and in the water. Surfing, stand-up paddling and other water sports can be found around Ponta do Ouro and Ponta Malongane. Some days are calm; others belong entirely to the waves.

Safari

From the ocean, the road leads into a landscape of lakes, wetlands, savannah and forest. Maputo National Park protects an exceptional natural area in southern Mozambique and, together with neighbouring protected areas, forms an important link between the coast and the African interior.

Birdlife & Dunes

Around Matutuíne, nature does not need grand gestures. Coastal forest, dunes, lakes and wetlands lie close together. Often it is the wind, birdsong and the rustle of vegetation that first make you stop and listen.

Inhaca Museum

Inhaca Island is home to the Estação de Biologia Marítima da Inhaca of Universidade Eduardo Mondlane. The station includes a biological museum with collections representing the marine and terrestrial flora and fauna of the island and the Mozambican coast.
