Francis Bacon
Francis Bacon & Nova Atlantis
Francis Bacon (1561–1626) was a philosopher, statesman and pioneer of modern science. In his utopian work Nova Atlantis (1627), he envisioned an island where research, knowledge and collective well-being make a good and peaceful life possible.
The world changes when we begin to see it through different eyes.
Did you know?
Bensalem: Where Science Shapes the Good Life
At the heart of Bacon’s utopia is the fictional island of Bensalem (“Son of Peace”). There, scholars conduct research in “Salomon’s House”, a kind of early research academy, and apply their knowledge directly for the benefit of all. Bacon showed that progress does not arise from new laws alone, but from thoughtful planning, shared knowledge and the conscious shaping of the world in which we live.
Our Inspiration: Bringing a Small Utopia to Life
This very idea inspired us when creating our holiday home. As in Bacon’s Bensalem, we wanted to create a place where guests can slow down, recharge and experience a little of the “better life”, through thoughtful design, sustainable technology and an atmosphere that invites a genuine sense of well-being.
Our home is therefore more than accommodation
it is a small, tangible expression of Bacon’s vision, a place where planning, care and attention to detail translate into a quality of life that can truly be felt.
